“H” could mean “Habitat”, “O” may possibly symbolize the ‘Options’ we have to take, to feel ourselves “at home”, “M” might be used to represent the different ‘Meanings’ which HOME suggests and finally “E”, which may possibly be…‘Etc.’ (which can also be interpreted in many ways! For me, for example, it takes the connotation of the ‘etc.’ of our life!)…And joining all these key-words, we “build a H.O.M.E.”… We used to say that Home could mean many things (people, places, relationships, moods), so we can affirm that a homeless has a home, can’t we? Everybody can have a home. Everybody can feel “at home” even without her/his own physical place to live, that is, her/his physical home. It’s hard to think about it because we think “Oh! How can a person feel at home’ without having a house to live?!” But we don’t know her/his connotation of “Home”…I everyday see people on the streets asking for money/food…and maybe the first thing that makes them feel at home is receiving a “Good morning” with a piece of bread, for example! I usually do that because I feel sorry for those people who have to live on the streets but the main reason why I do these sort of things is because I feel myself at home when I think I’m helping someone to feel at home too! It’s so gratifying to hear a ‘simple’ “Thank you”! But even when we give something and don’t receive thanks for that, we can’t (and shouldn’t!) grow angry or be sad! Why? Mainly, because if we feel all that bad feelings it’s because we do a “good deed” just to receive something in return and secondly, because sometimes gratitude is expressed and felt in our heart...because very often, the most important think is to listen and not to hear... As the proverb says “Actions speak louder than words”, so don’t give so much importance to the words and let your actions be the meaning of Home. |
Yes Raquel I guess everybody can have a HOME... :)
